Laut dem Statistischen Bundesamt saßen in deutschen Knästen am 30. November 2996 Frauen ein. Wer sind diese Frauen? Wofür werden sie bestraft? Wie viele von ihnen identifizieren sich überhaupt als Frauen? Knast erfüllt eine strukturelle Funktion, etwa bei der Verwaltung von Armut. Doch welche Rolle erfüllen Frauen*knäste? Wie helfen sie dabei ein patriarchales geschlechterbinäres System aufrecht zu erhalten? Wir wollen mit euch anlässlich des internationalen Frauen*kampftages zum Frauentagsradio am 8.März über den genderspezifischen Charakter von Bestrafung sprechen.

Elephant in the Room – Perspektives on womens prison #08

According to the Federal Statistical Office 2996 women were in German prisons on 30 November. Who are these women? What are they being punished for? How many of them even identify themselves as women? Prison fulfils a structural function, for example in the administration of poverty. But what role do women*prisons fulfil? How do they help to maintain a patriarchal gender-biased system?

Heute beschäftiget uns im Anarchistischen Hörfunk aus Dresden, das Thema Hausbesetzungen.
Zunächst einmal werfen wir dabei einen Blick in die Geschichte der Hausbesetzer*innen-Bewegung und legen einen Fokus auf die Bewegungen in Deutschland der 70er und 80er-Jahre und die Ereignisse der Berliner Instandbesetzungs-Bewegung in den Jahren 1980/81, welche prägend waren.
Danach schauen wir auf Hausbesetzungen speziell in Dresden und führen ein Interview mit Lan, aus der Gruppe „Wir besetzten Dresden“.

Elephant in the room – repressions against anarchists in Russia and cooperation of liberals and nazis in Thuringen Germany #07

Network case in Penza, Russia shocked a lot of people by sentences that can compete with those given to political opponents during Gulag times. We are talking to Tanya one of the people behind solidarity campaign with prosecuted anarchists and antifascists in Russia about the sentencing and the role repressions and tortures played in anarchist movement in the country.

In the second part of the show we talk with an anarchist from Thuringen, Germany on recent support of liberal party by extreme right AfD which helped liberals to get their candidate elected as minister president of the federal state. What are the anarchist perspective on this development in Germany and what anarchists should or should not do in this situation.

20 years anniversary of Indymedia – Elephant in the Room #06

The resistance is global… a trans-pacific collaboration has brought this web site into existence. Thats how The first entry on an Indymedia website began on November 24, 1999. Indymedia went online a few days before the protests against the WTO (world-trade-organisation) meeting in Seattle, and it was to be the alternative platform for reports on these protests. A group of activist-journalists set up a newsroom in a donated storefront. They called it the Seattle Independent Media Center (IMC). The Seattle IMC was stocked with donated computers for uploading and editing video and for writing articles. This content would then be posted to a website, indymedia.org. The Indymedia website clocked in 1.5 million unique visitors in its first week of operation, surpassing traffic to CNN’s website during the Seattle protests.
