Elephant in the room – conversation with anarchists from Russia on „Freedom to Navalny“ protests #22

We got in touch with several anarchist comrades to talk about the recent protests on the streets of different cities in Russia: looked into political events of 2020 and how they brought people to the situation with protests. With comrades we managed to clarify if Navalny is a nazi and the whole protest should be ignored by the anarchists or leftists. And of course we talked about anarchists and their participation in protest movement.

In this episode of Elephant in The Room we talk with Yossi Bartal about politics in Israel and Germany and how those are interconnected. We dive into details about how german left exclude anarchists and leftists from Israel who live in Berlin. We also talk about obsession of german left with BDS topic and how attacks on the small pro-palenstinian groups comes both from mainstream politics and anti-authoritarian groups.

Yossi Bartal is an activist and journalist who is living in Berlin since 2004. He contributed to many leftists magazines. One of his essays was included in collection „Anarchist against the wall“. He is also a member of „Jewish Voices for the Pece in the Middle East“.

For a lot of people Poland this days associated with conservative politics, biggest nazi march in Europe and catholic madness. However beyond those topics reported in the mainstream media there is a lot going on in anarchist organizing in the country.

We invite two people for this conversation on history of feminism in Poland during so called communist regime and after neoliberal reforms. We also talk about the recent attacks of the government on women rights in the country and the organizational efforts made to fight back.

Elephant in the room – Critical thinking in times of corona #10

The Corona pandemic is affecting all of our lives at the moment in one way or another. However as always in our society some people are affected particularly hard.Today we want to ask ourselves – apart from the medical fight against the pandemic – what tendencies we can currently observe in the field of democracy, neoliberalism and solidarity. We look at the recent curfews, DNA sampling and telecommunication surveillance, who is affected particularly and what creatives forms of action and solidarity people take to tackel the situation.
